ADAM BAIRD FROM KEIGHLEY SENTENCED IN BRADFORD FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

In a series of disturbing criminal cases, Adam Baird, a 27-year-old man from Keighley, has faced serious legal repercussions for his involvement in sexual offenses and possession of indecent images of children.

The incidents span over a period of time, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior that has shocked the local community and prompted calls for increased safety measures.

In June 2019, Baird was brought back to Bradford Crown Court to face additional charges related to child pornography.

He was convicted of possessing a significant number of indecent images, totaling approximately 1,200, with 381 classified as Category A, the most severe rating indicating images depicting the rape or torture of children.

This conviction came after Baird, who was then residing in Braithwaite, Keighley, pleaded guilty to seven counts involving these illicit images.

The police investigation into the images was initiated following a search of Baird’s home on October 24, 2017.

During the search, officers discovered the disturbing collection of images on his computer.

Prosecutor Jeremy Hill-Baker revealed that Baird had accessed the dark web in search of photographs featuring underage girls, further illustrating his disturbing interests.

At the time of the discovery, Baird was already serving a prison sentence of four years and four months for a separate, serious sexual assault.

The earlier incident occurred on October 13, 2017, on Oakworth Road in Keighley, where Baird had dragged a teenage girl into an alleyway and assaulted her.

The court heard that Baird’s actions included physically forcing the girl into an alley and sexually assaulting her, with the attack ending after he pushed her into a wall.

The victim managed to reach home, where her family promptly contacted the police.

DNA evidence linked Baird to the assault, leading to his arrest.

During the investigation, Baird initially claimed that the girl had tried to kiss him, suggesting that she was the one initiating contact.

However, he later admitted guilt in court.

Despite this, Baird continued to blame the teenage victim during discussions with probation officers prior to sentencing.

Judge Jonathan Rose, presiding over the case, condemned Baird’s behavior, emphasizing the vulnerability of the young girl and the gravity of his actions.

He sentenced Baird to four years and four months in prison, urging him to cease blaming the victim.

Furthermore, the court mandated that Baird register as a sex offender for an indefinite period, reflecting the seriousness of his offenses.

The judge also highlighted the lasting impact of the assault on the victim, noting that she would carry the scars of the attack for many years to come.

Following the assault, community safety concerns arose, leading to calls for the closure of the alleyway known as Postman’s Walk, where the attack took place.

Authorities and local residents expressed fears over the safety of the area, prompting discussions on preventative measures to protect the public from similar incidents in the future.

Overall, Adam Baird’s criminal activities have left a significant mark on the Keighley community, prompting ongoing discussions about safeguarding and the importance of vigilant law enforcement to prevent such disturbing crimes.
