PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR RAPES ON GIRL
A child rapist was sentenced to imprisonment after being found guilty of abusing a young girl in Sussex.
Adam Arnold, aged 32, was convicted on multiple charges, including four counts of child rape and eight counts of other serious sexual assaults.
The abuse was described as systematic, occurring over numerous occasions.
The victim, aged between 10 and 14 at the time, experienced considerable trauma and distress due to the abuse, which she only disclosed last year.
At Hove Crown Court, Arnold was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
He admitted to the charges during the hearing.
Detective Constable Ellen Jones stated that Arnold had befriended the girl and began the abuse five years prior, operating in a covert manner that went unnoticed for years.
Once she confided in someone, police took immediate action, leading to Arnold’s arrest.
Jones emphasised the girl’s strength in supporting the case despite her ordeal.
Arnold, who resides in Crawley, will be required to remain on the sex offender register for life, and the court also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict his access to children in the future.
The police officer urged victims of sexual abuse to come forward, regardless of how much time has passed, assuring them of confidential support from specialist investigators and access to professional help.
