ADAM ANDERSON FROM ALLOA CONVICTED OF SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN STIRLING AND ALLOA

In a serious legal development, Adam Anderson, a young man from Alloa, has been found guilty of committing two separate sexual assault offenses earlier this year, following a trial held at Stirling Sheriff Court on Monday, November 19. The convictions come just weeks after Anderson was previously convicted for similar offenses involving two children, highlighting a troubling pattern of behavior.

Anderson, aged 19, was charged and convicted of assaulting two women in distinct incidents that occurred in different locations and times. The first incident involved a 23-year-old woman and took place on July 8 near an underpass close to Wallace Street in Stirling. The court heard that the victim was walking alone around 8 pm, heading to a friend’s house, when she noticed Anderson ahead of her. She recounted that she initially did not pay much attention to him, but suddenly, as he was about a meter in front of her, he swerved in her direction and struck her on the buttocks with his left hand.

The victim described her shock at the unexpected assault, stating, “I was just shocked at first because it was just so random.” CCTV footage was presented during the trial, showing Anderson later emerging from the underpass where the incident occurred. The footage corroborated the victim’s account, capturing Anderson walking away from the scene shortly after the assault.

The second incident involved a 17-year-old girl and happened on August 9. The court heard that she was walking home alone from Alloa Railway Station in the evening when she noticed she was being followed. She explained that the individual following her was very close, and as she reached her front door, she felt someone grab her from behind. The teenager described the assault, saying, “He grabbed my bum with both hands. It wasn’t lingering, but it was definitely a grab.” She then reported the incident to the police from inside her home. The court was shown CCTV footage of the street near her residence, which depicted her walking quickly while Anderson followed closely behind.

During the trial, Anderson offered a bizarre explanation for his actions. He claimed to suffer from “split personality disorder” and said he sometimes hears voices in his head. Regarding the July 8 incident, he stated that he hit the woman’s buttocks “by accident” while attempting to get her attention to ask for a cigarette. Concerning the August 9 assault, Anderson claimed he thought he recognized the girl as a friend of his and that the act was a spontaneous gesture, similar to previous “random” acts he and the girl’s friend would do to introduce themselves. However, Sheriff Simon Collins was not convinced by Anderson’s explanations, describing them as “bizarre” and uncredible.

Sheriff Collins emphasized the credibility of the victims, stating, “I found both complainers to be entirely credible, and the accused’s explanations entirely uncredible.” The court was also informed that Anderson had been convicted of sexual assault at Alloa Sheriff Court just two weeks prior, with both convictions sharing striking similarities in nature. Given the seriousness of the offenses and the pattern of behavior, Sheriff Collins ordered that Anderson be remanded in custody until his sentencing hearing, scheduled for November 28.
