SWANSEA DELIVERY DRIVER JAILED FOR ABUSING YOUNG GIRLS IN PRAYER ROOM
Abdul Kadir, a delivery driver, was found guilty of subjecting young girls to severe sexual abuse, including rape, and treating them as "sexual slaves" within his home prayer room.Court records detailed that Kadir repeatedly assaulted the victims on multiple occasions, mostly in a prayer room located in his residence.
Prosecutors described how he initially engaged the girls, all under the age of 13, through kissing and touching, before progressing to rape.
To prevent the girls from speaking out, Kadir threatened them with warnings that disclosing the abuse would lead them to be forced into a brothel.
He also falsely claimed to one girl that reporting the crimes would result in losing her hijab and halal food.
The victims eventually confided in others, leading to police involvement.
Kadir was arrested in January and maintained his innocence, claiming the girls made up the stories and that family members had pressured them.
Medical examinations confirmed the allegations, with semen matching Kadir found on the victims’ clothing.
Statements from foster carers and social workers highlighted the significant psychological harm inflicted, including panic attacks, nightmares, flashbacks, and fear of men.
The girls also voiced concerns about community repercussions, fearing social ostracism or being forced into arranged marriages.
Kadir pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and three counts of rape during sentencing.
It was revealed that he had previous convictions for dishonesty dating back to 2006.
Judge Geraint Walters described Kadir’s conduct as heinous, noting he had exploited the victims as "sexual slaves" and caused irreparable damage, effectively sentencing them to lifelong trauma.
The judge emphasized the societal problem of victim stigmatization in certain communities, condemning such attitudes as "wicked." Kadir was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with a 20% reduction for his guilty plea, resulting in a 19-year term plus a one-year license period.
He will be a lifelong registered sex offender and will be subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order restricting contact with children.
The court commented on Kadir’s apparent lack of remorse and the depraved nature of his actions, stating that, although such cases are common, this level of severity is rare.
