WALTHAMSTOW: ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT JAILED FOR MOTHER'S MURDER
Abdul Jabbar, a 54-year-old man residing illegally in the UK, was convicted of murdering his sister-in-law, Fiza Asif, in Walthamstow.
Authorities reported that Jabbar suffocated Asif and then covered her body with petrol in an upper-floor bedroom, setting her ablaze to cover his tracks.
It emerged that Jabbar's grudge was linked to her knowledge of his undocumented status, which he feared.
In January of the previous year, he had arranged for his brother, Mohammed Arshad, to travel to Pakistan before removing their five children from the family home.
CCTV footage captured Jabbar purchasing five liters of petrol on the day of the incident.
He was arrested six days later, charged with her murder, and found guilty on June 1.
He was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 23 years.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Meechan stated that the killing was a calculated, premeditated act driven by Jabbar’s desire to eliminate her because she threatened to expose his illegal status.
The investigation unveiled his lies, and his actions have devastated the family, leaving five children without their mother and causing deep emotional turmoil.
