TEEN FACEBOOK PREDATOR CAUGHT BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS
A man involved in online predatory behavior was caught by two separate groups of paedophile hunters after he sought out underage girls on social media platforms.
Aaron Turner-Hobbs, 22 years old and residing on Pinhoe Road in Exeter, pleaded guilty to charges including attempting to persuade a minor to engage in sexual activity, trying to get a child to view a sexual act, and three counts of attempting to communicate sexually with a minor.
He reached out to four fake profiles created by online vigilantes, requested explicit selfies, and sent a video of himself masturbating accompanied by the message "that’s where babies come from." Despite being informed of the girls’ ages, he persisted in making contact.
His arrest followed an incident where he arranged to meet a 21-year-old woman via Facebook, but he was confronted by the hunters, who then contacted the police.
He received a three-year community order, was placed on the sex offenders register for five years, and was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that prohibited him from contacting children and required monitoring of his internet activity.
The judge noted that he was unaware the profiles were fake and described his conduct as disturbing and extensive.
