AARON GOWLAND'S CRUELTY IN ACCRINGTON: PUPPY BEATEN AND SHAKEN IN HORRIFIC ABUSE CASE

In a disturbing case of animal cruelty, Aaron Gowland, a man with connections to Accrington, has been convicted of inflicting severe abuse on a defenseless puppy named Kinder. The incident, which took place in his residence in Accrington, was captured on multiple videos that vividly depict Gowland’s violent and callous treatment of the young dog.

These videos, which were forwarded to the RSPCA in April, show Gowland repeatedly hitting, shaking, and attacking Kinder in a manner that left the puppy visibly distressed. The footage reveals a pattern of aggressive behavior, with the puppy whimpering and crying as a result of Gowland’s actions. The videos depict Gowland striking the puppy with his hand and the handle of its lead approximately eight times, as well as violently shaking the animal with both hands. The distress caused to Kinder was palpable, and the footage underscores the severity of the abuse.

One particularly disturbing clip shows Gowland shouting at the puppy, “Are you just going to be this awkward all your life?” while shaking and hitting him. This aggressive outburst highlights the cruelty and lack of compassion in Gowland’s treatment of the animal. Fortunately, Kinder was removed from this environment and is now in a loving and caring home, having been rescued from a life of terror at the hands of Gowland.

Gowland later pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to the dog by inflicting trauma. His actions prompted a strong response from animal welfare authorities. Speaking after the sentencing, RSPCA Inspector Nicole Broster expressed her concern, stating, “The defendant left this poor puppy whimpering in fear and pain because of his aggressive and cruel behaviour. He showed a complete disregard for the welfare of the dog, who thankfully escaped injury during this ordeal at the hands of his owner.”

Following his rescue, Kinder was placed in foster care under the RSPCA’s supervision. Inspector Broster added, “The puppy is now being truly loved and cared for, and I couldn’t have wished for a better new home for him.”

In court, Gowland received a sentence that included an eight-week prison term, suspended for 12 months, along with 200 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay a total of £2,496.08 in fines and costs. Additionally, Gowland was handed a five-year ban from owning animals, which will remain in effect until November 2029.

This case has garnered significant attention in the Lancashire area, highlighting the importance of animal welfare and the consequences of cruelty. The incident underscores the need for vigilance and swift action to protect vulnerable animals from abuse and neglect in communities like Accrington.
