VULNERABLE WOMAN WOKE TO FIND BURGLAR AT END OF HER BED
Kieran Hemsley, aged 32 from Porthcawl, was sentenced to eight years in prison after assaulting his ex-partner, which caused her lung to be punctured and left her hospitalized for days.
The incident occurred on July 9 last year when police responded to a report of a woman struggling to breathe at a residence in Pyle.
Evidence showed that Hemsley entered the property unlawfully, breaking a restraining order intended to protect the woman, and launched a violent attack.
He assaulted her by punching her head and kicking her, injuries severe enough to require lengthy hospitalization.
Hemsley’s actions were described as callous and reckless, with authorities emphasizing his breach of legal protections and violent behaviour.
Despite denying guilt, he was convicted of grievous bodily harm and breaching the restraining order, with the court imposing an eight-year sentence and an indefinite restraining order.
He has a criminal history, including a 2019 conviction for a physical assault which resulted in actual bodily harm after an altercation at a friend’s house in Bridgend where he and an associate attacked a man.
The court cases highlight Hemsley’s pattern of violent conduct and disregard for legal restrictions aimed at protecting victims.
