ZACHARY MASON PREDATOR FROM ASTON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN BIRMINGHAM

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Aston and the wider Birmingham area, Zachary Mason, aged 35, was sentenced to seven years in prison for engaging in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl and fathering her child. The case came to public attention after a series of revelations that exposed Mason’s predatory behavior and the extent of his misconduct.

According to court reports, Mason’s abuse of the teenage girl, which took place over several months, was only uncovered when she was found to be pregnant and diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection during a routine visit to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The hospital staff initially suspected something was amiss when the girl’s health issues were brought to light, prompting further investigation.

It was during this investigation that Mason’s involvement was uncovered. The girl, who was initially reluctant to disclose the identity of her abuser, eventually confided in a friend, revealing that Mason had been the source of her trauma. The prosecution, led by Zaheer Afzal at Birmingham Crown Court, detailed how Mason’s initial contact with the girl involved fondling, which he then escalated to full sexual activity. Mason had used gifts and emotional manipulation to gain her trust and maintain control over her.

Further evidence revealed that Mason had a prior conviction for similar offenses. Thirteen years earlier, he had served a nine-month prison sentence after being convicted of indecent assault. Despite this, he continued to engage in predatory behavior, which ultimately led to the current charges.

Judge Phillip Parker QC, presiding over the case, did not hold back in his assessment of Mason’s character. He described Mason as a “predatory man” and expressed concern that he posed a continued threat to society. The judge stated, “I have to conclude to some extent that you are a predatory man. You would have no fear about doing the same thing again, save for the risk of being caught.”

The court heard that Mason’s abuse was driven by “pure sexual greed,” and the DNA evidence conclusively proved he was the father of the girl’s unborn child. The victim, who was deeply disturbed by the ordeal, was described as emotionally manipulated and profoundly affected by Mason’s actions. She had also undergone an abortion after the pregnancy was confirmed.

In addition to the seven-year prison sentence, Mason’s history of sexual offenses underscores the ongoing risks he poses. His case has sparked outrage and concern within the local community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and protective measures for vulnerable young people in Birmingham and beyond.
