WILLIAM RODGER: MAN WRONGLY ACCUSED OF DOMESTIC ABUSE
A report initially claimed William Rodger, 53, of Charlotte Street, Stanley, had been convicted of domestic abuse offences after a trial at Perth Sheriff Court. However, the correction clarified that while he was found guilty of grabbing a woman by the arms and slapping her face during an incident in 2020, he was not convicted of the alleged punching.
The original report also suggested he engaged in a course of abusive conduct towards another woman from April 2019 until July 2021, but this was not upheld.
Instead, he was found guilty of domestically-aggravated threatening or abusive behaviour, specifically for sending threatening and offensive text messages between September and December 2020.
He was fined £840 and ordered to stay away from the victim for two years.
The sheriff’s verdict was a change from the initial report, and the organization issued an apology for the inaccuracies.
