STANLEY PAEDOPHILE AVOIDS JAIL
Stanley resident Craig Ainsley, a convicted sex offender, has avoided imprisonment after being sentenced at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court. He received a suspended prison term after admitting to two charges related to possessing indecent images of minors.
The case was based on a police raid in 2024, during which officers seized devices belonging to Ainsley.
An examination revealed he stored multiple images and videos depicting children in sexual contexts.
Court records indicated that among the material found was one Category A video and three images showing young children engaged in sexual acts.
During questioning, Ainsley admitted to contacting several minors aged 16 to 18 through a mobile application and receiving illegal content.
In January 2025, he was issued a three-year sexual risk order.
The judge decided that no additional sexual harm prevention order was necessary beyond the existing one.
His sentence was an 18-week jail term, suspended for six months, and he was not required to perform community service.
This was due to his full-time employment and responsibilities caring for a sick family member.
