WILLIAM HOGAN MALVERN PENSIONER SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN WORCESTER

In April 2016, a 77-year-old man from Malvern, William Hogan, was sentenced to a five-year prison term at Worcester Crown Court following his conviction for sexual assault involving two young girls.

Hogan, residing on West Malvern Road, was found guilty after a trial that concluded in February of the same year.

During the proceedings, prosecutor Walter Bealby highlighted that some of the offenses took place over three decades ago, emphasizing the long-standing nature of the crimes.

The case drew significant attention due to the age of the defendant and the historical context of the allegations.

Hogan's defense attorney, Adam Western, requested that the court consider a minimal sentence, citing Hogan's advanced age and potential health concerns.

Despite this plea, Judge Robert Juckes QC stated that the jury's verdict was based on the credible testimony of witnesses who had come forward with their accounts.

Judge Juckes announced that Hogan would serve half of his five-year sentence before being eligible for release on licence.

Additionally, the court imposed a sexual harm prevention order, which prohibits Hogan from having any contact with individuals under the age of 18.

This order is set to remain in effect indefinitely.

Hogan is also required to register as a sex offender for a period of five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions related to his conduct.
