WILLIAM FULTON THREATENS AND DAMAGES PROPERTY IN KYLE OF LOCHALSH INCIDENT

A man from Kyle of Lochalsh has been found guilty of engaging in threatening and abusive conduct following a disturbing altercation involving his girlfriend's belongings. William Fulton, a fisherman by profession, admitted to the charges after the incident that took place at his residence in Kyle of Lochalsh.

Fulton, aged 43, appeared before Inverness Sheriff Court to face the consequences of his actions. The incident, which occurred on March 6 of this year, was reportedly triggered by a personal revelation that deeply upset him. According to court records, Fulton’s solicitor explained that the confrontation began after Fulton discovered that his girlfriend was involved with one of his friends, a revelation that evidently provoked a strong emotional response.

Details provided by the prosecution, represented by fiscal depute David Morton, reveal that the couple had been together for approximately two months prior to the incident. At around 1 pm, Fulton entered a bedroom where an argument quickly escalated. Mr. Morton described the scene, stating, “He began shouting and swearing fairly aggressively,” which indicates the intensity of the confrontation. During the altercation, the woman recorded the incident on her mobile phone, capturing the aggressive behavior of Fulton.

Following this, Fulton’s attitude shifted. He left the room and, shortly thereafter, gathered some of his girlfriend’s belongings. In a display of anger, he threw these items onto the street outside their home, causing property damage and distress. The police were called to the scene, and Fulton, who had already left the area, was later located and taken into custody.

Fulton’s solicitor, Roger Webb, provided context for his client’s actions, stating that Fulton had asked the woman to leave his house after learning of her relationship with another man. Webb explained that Fulton had gone out for four hours and returned to find her still there, which led to the incident. He acknowledged that Fulton’s response was not ideal and that there were better ways to handle such a situation.

In sentencing, Sheriff David Harvie imposed a fine of £300 on Fulton. Additionally, he ordered Fulton to pay the woman £200 in compensation for her belongings and issued a non-harassment order for a period of one year. This order is intended to prevent Fulton from making contact with the victim, ensuring her safety and peace of mind. The court’s decision underscores the seriousness with which such incidents are viewed and highlights the importance of appropriate conduct in personal disputes.
