WILLIAM DANGA FROM BECKENHAM: HORRIFIC CHILD RAPIST STRIKES AGAIN IN LONDON AND PORTSMOUTH

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, William Danga, a man originally from Beckenham, has been convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving young girls. The 39-year-old Congolese national's criminal activities span over a decade, with his victims ranging from as young as four years old to 14. His case highlights the ongoing issues surrounding foreign nationals who exploit legal loopholes to remain in the United Kingdom despite serious criminal records.

William Danga's criminal history is deeply troubling. His first known assault occurred in 2000 when he was just 19 years old, and he was accused of abusing a four-year-old girl. The young victim was subjected to repeated attacks during church meetings, which Danga attended as a Jehovah’s Witness. Fortunately, he was removed from South East London to an immigration hostel in Portsmouth a year later, where he was convicted of violently raping a 16-year-old girl in her bedroom after she attempted to end their relationship. This conviction resulted in a ten-year prison sentence, and authorities ordered his deportation upon his release.

However, Danga's story did not end there. After serving only half of his sentence, he was released in 2006 and managed to return to South East London. His return was facilitated by legal battles that allowed him to stay in Britain, citing his right to a 'family life' under European laws. During this period, he resumed his abusive behavior, targeting a second young girl, who was only seven years old at the time. She recounted that Danga would entice her into his bedroom by playing her favorite pop songs, including 'Don’t Cha' by the Pussycat Dolls, on his mobile phone. She described feeling conflicted and guilty, saying, “I didn’t really like it but I didn’t say anything because of the music. I didn’t want it to happen again.”

His younger victim also revealed that Danga would leave after the attacks to go door-to-door preaching as a Jehovah’s Witness, often dressed in a smart brown suit. The young girl explained that he would lure her into the bedroom, and she felt powerless to stop him, believing it was her fault. Her testimony was given via video link during the five-day trial at Croydon Crown Court, where Danga faced multiple charges of rape and sexual assault. The court heard that Danga's victims, now aged 14 and 12, had to relive their traumatic experiences as they provided evidence.

Yesterday, Judge Nicholas Ainley sentenced Danga to 15 years in prison, emphasizing the severity of his crimes. The judge also ordered his deportation upon release, expressing astonishment that Danga had been allowed to remain in Britain after his initial release in 2006. The court condemned his actions and highlighted the danger posed by individuals like him, who exploit legal protections to evade deportation. Danga, who is unemployed and has two young children with his girlfriend Carla—whom he met when she was 18—shouted abuse at relatives of his victims as he was led away to the cells. His case underscores the ongoing debate over the use of human rights laws to prevent deportation of dangerous foreign criminals, with Home Secretary Theresa May advocating for reforms to limit such legal arguments in the future.
