WILLIAM ALDRED FROM TYLDESLEY CAUGHT WITH 141 CHILD ABUSE VIDEOS IN SHOCKING CASE

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Tyldesley, William Aldred, aged 63, was found in possession of an alarming collection of child abuse videos. The police investigation revealed that Aldred possessed a total of 141 discs containing explicit material depicting serious child exploitation. These videos, which spanned approximately 133 hours of footage, were classified into the most severe categories of abuse, highlighting the gravity of the material involved.

According to court proceedings, the police initially apprehended Aldred after he lent some of these discs to another individual. The man who received the discs believed they contained adult pornography, but upon further investigation, it was discovered that two of the discs involved explicit images of children. Realizing the severity of the content, the recipient of the discs contacted law enforcement authorities, leading to Aldred’s arrest.

The investigation also uncovered that the source of the material was linked to Andrew Hart, a 50-year-old man whose home was raided by police. During the raid, authorities discovered that Hart possessed sophisticated equipment designed for copying downloaded internet content onto DVDs. This equipment indicated a deliberate effort to distribute or store illegal material. Tragically, Hart was due to attend a police station to face charges but was found dead by hanging in August of the previous year, an act that prosecutors confirmed was a suicide.

During the court hearing, prosecutor Harry Pepper detailed the case, emphasizing the disturbing nature of the material and the circumstances surrounding Aldred’s possession. Aldred admitted to acquiring the discs from Hart, which further implicated him in the possession of indecent images of children. The court heard that Aldred had pleaded guilty to 17 charges related to possessing such videos.

Despite the serious nature of the offences, Judge William George opted for a community-based sentence, imposing a three-year order. The judge took into account Aldred’s learning difficulties, which appeared to affect his understanding of the gravity of his actions. However, the judge made it clear that Aldred must attend a specialized Northumbria Sex Offenders programme. Failure to comply with this order could result in imprisonment.

Throughout the proceedings, it was evident that Aldred recognized he was in a serious situation, but he did not fully grasp why his behavior was problematic. The case has raised concerns about the need for appropriate intervention and monitoring for individuals with learning difficulties involved in such offences, underscoring the ongoing challenge of addressing child exploitation crimes in the community of Tyldesley.
