CHILD ABDUCTION GANG MEMBER JAILED FOR 17 YEARS AFTER KIDNAPPING IN NORTH WALES
Wilfred Wong, a central figure in the abduction of a child from a foster care setting, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for conspiracy to kidnap. The child was taken from their foster carer in North Wales after Wong, along with other gang members, plotted the kidnapping believing the child had been involved in satanic abuse.
CCTV footage revealed Wong holding a knife at the foster carer's throat and slashing a tyre to prevent pursuit.
The gang leaders, Anke Hill and Wilfred Wong, were found guilty after detailed police investigation showing extensive planning, including sourcing a passport to potentially move the child abroad.
Wong, a former human rights worker, claimed he believed he was on a rescue mission, with his defense arguing that he was misguided and motivated by misinformation fed by gang leader Hill about satanic ritual abuse.
One member of the gang died of suffocation in prison awaiting trial.
The court highlighted their actions as acting as vigilantes, crossing the line into criminality, with the child's father victimized by false accusations of satanic and paedophilic acts, leading to emotional and psychological trauma.
The court sentenced Wong to 17 years for conspiracy plus two years and six months for possession of a bladed article, to run concurrently.
The case was described as particularly chilling, with authorities emphasizing the meticulous planning involved and the devastating impact on the child's family.
