2009: ‘DANGEROUS’ RAPIST JAILED FOR 12 YEARS
A man convicted of multiple sexual assaults on two women—claims they fabricated the stories—has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.Wesley Dean, aged 48 and residing on Holly Street in Bury, is described as “dangerous” by the court.
He committed similar offenses against two women in their 30s, with approximately a decade separating the incidents.
Dean, father to two children, left one woman pregnant after forcing himself on her in front of a child.
The other victim was attacked after he confined her within a house, locking the door and removing the key to prevent her escape.
According to court reports, the woman attempted to jump from an upstairs window in an effort to flee and was later discovered by her teenage son, injured and distressed.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that the second woman feared she might die in her house and that her children would lose their mother.
The full extent of Dean’s assaults on the first woman was only revealed when he was arrested for the second set of accusations, and the first victim contacted the authorities, revealing what had occurred.
Despite admitting some of the charges, Dean continues to deny the remaining allegations and has been registered on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of rape and was convicted by a jury of three additional rape charges, assault causing actual bodily harm, and false imprisonment.
Defence lawyer Martin Hackett stated that probation officials assessed Dean as being at high risk of causing serious harm.
Mr Hackett added: “He struggles to comprehend the gravity of his actions and the impact on his victims.”
