WICKED RAPIST GETS 10 YEAR SENTENCE
A FRIZINGTON father-of-three who drunkenly raped a 16-year-old virgin after a party at his home has been jailed for 10 years.A judge described the actions of Kenneth Bell, who also forced the girl to give him oral sex, as ‘wicked in the extreme’.
He placed the 48-year-old, who has teenage children of his own, on the Sex Offenders’ Register for the remainder of his life.
Bell, of Main Street, was found guilty of rape by a unanimous verdict and guilty of indecent assault by an 11-1 majority.
Judge Paul Batty, QC, told him, at Carlisle Crown Court, last Friday: “You robbed that 16-year-old girl of what remained of her childhood.
“She had hoped to remain a virgin until she was married.
Now that future is ruined.
You have turned her life upside down.
You raped her and then subjected her to further sexual degradation.
You damaged her mentally and, in the short-term, physically.” The judge said Bell had demonstrated self-pity but not remorse.
If he had been remorseful he would have pleaded guilty.
The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told the jury that she was too scared to scream.
In an interview read out to the court, Bell told police he drank 20 bottles of lager.
He said he could not remember much of the night and the rape might have happened but in court, he claimed he never went into the room where the girl was resting after drinking at the party.
Bell claimed the girl had been trying to frame him over money.
Jeremy Grout-Smith, prosecuting, said: “You are just lying to protect yourself.
“There is no earthly reason why she should make up a story about you.” Bell said when police interviewed him he was in shock and was confused by a bombardment of questions.
Bell, wept when the verdict was delivered.
Malcolm Dutchman-Smith, defending, said Bell had not used violence on the girl and the incident had not been pre-meditated.
It was an example of drunken opportunism that was completely out of character.
His life and that of his family was now in ruins.
