WAYNE WILSON'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN WASHINGTON AND GATESHEAD: PAEDOPHILE FLEEING UK JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
In a series of disturbing criminal acts spanning several years, Wayne Wilson, a man with a troubling history of sexual offenses, has been sentenced to over six years in prison for heinous crimes committed against a young girl in the UK, as well as for his involvement in child pornography activities in Washington and Gateshead.Wilson's most recent conviction stems from a series of sexual assaults on a girl under the age of 13, which occurred approximately six times over the course of a year between 2014 and 2015. The victim, whose identity remains protected, disclosed the abuse to her family and school teachers, prompting an investigation that eventually led to Wilson's arrest. The severity of the offenses and their impact on the young girl were emphasized during the court proceedings at Newcastle Crown Court.
It was revealed that, while under investigation for these serious allegations, Wilson took drastic measures to evade justice. In April 2018, he fled the United Kingdom and traveled to the United States, specifically to Kansas, where he used false identification documents and a pseudonym to conceal his true identity. His disappearance prompted Northumbria Police to launch inquiries, especially after he failed to attend a scheduled probation appointment. Authorities in Kansas detained Wilson when he was stopped in a vehicle, citing immigration violations, which eventually led to his extradition back to the UK earlier this year.
Upon his return, Wilson was arrested at Heathrow Airport and subsequently pleaded guilty to the charges of sexual assault and breaching a notification order related to his travel to America. The court was informed that his actions had left a lasting scar on the victim, although she was actively trying to move forward with her life. Her mother shared that the girl had undergone numerous counseling sessions, and expressed her pain, stating, “She said it still hurts and I don’t want to cry or feel these emotions.”
Judge Robert Adams, presiding over the case, sentenced Wilson to a term of six years and two months in prison. The judge condemned the offenses as “appalling,” emphasizing the significant emotional toll on the young victim. Wilson, who is currently without a fixed address and aged 38, was also convicted of breaching a notification order, which was related to his illegal travel to the United States.
In a separate but equally disturbing case from December 2016, Wilson’s predatory behavior extended into the realm of child pornography and voyeurism. It was uncovered that Wilson, then aged 33, had developed a disturbing fetish for filming young boys using toilets, particularly urinals. Over a period of more than two years, he clandestinely recorded at least 29 videos and photographs of boys aged between five and eight years old, all for his own sexual gratification. Additionally, police investigations revealed that Wilson had downloaded over 100 indecent images of children, which further highlighted the extent of his depravity.
The court heard that Wilson’s offending was not limited to the internet but also involved covert filming in public toilets. His arrest was triggered when he attempted to film a 16-year-old boy in the male toilets at the Blue Mall in the Metrocentre, Gateshead, on May 22. The teenager, who was in a cubicle at the time, noticed Wilson’s penis through a gap in the partition and was horrified to realize Wilson was performing a sex act on himself. The boy then saw Wilson holding a mobile phone over the top of his cubicle, which confirmed his suspicions.
Following the incident, the teenager left his cubicle and alerted police officers patrolling the area. Officers reviewed CCTV footage, which showed Wilson entering the toilet block approximately two hours earlier. They tracked him to his car in Washington, where he was arrested after police seized and examined electronic devices from his residence in Brackenway. The devices contained images and videos that Wilson admitted were for his sexual gratification, although he claimed the images shared via Skype were sourced from the internet, not taken by himself. Police experts were able to recover deleted images and videos from his devices, revealing a long history of illegal activity.
Wilson pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including voyeurism, making indecent images, distributing indecent images, and possession of indecent images. His offending spanned several years, and the court considered his previous good character and efforts to seek help for his addiction. Judge Robert Spragg sentenced him to a three-year community order, which includes rehabilitation and group work, along with a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a five-year registration as a sex offender.
The judge acknowledged Wilson’s willingness to engage with treatment and his prior attempts to address his issues, including seeking therapy for his pornography addiction. However, he warned that unless Wilson continued with treatment, he remained at high risk of reoffending. Wilson’s family, including his wife, expressed their support for him, despite the serious nature of his crimes. The court emphasized that addressing his underlying issues was crucial for his rehabilitation and for the safety of the public in Washington and Gateshead.
