COUNTY DURHAM STALKER GLUED EX-GIRLFRIEND'S DOOR AND BOMBARDED HER WITH CALLS
A stalker from County Durham, Wayne Wilkinson, aged 28 and residing in Ladysmith Court, engaged in a brief but intense harassment campaign against his former girlfriend over three days.
During this period, he made 141 phone calls to her and also issued threats towards her family members.
Following a message from the victim telling him to stay away from her, Wilkinson’s actions left her feeling “terrified,” as detailed in her victim statement.
He was detained by police, questioned, and released on bail, but he continued making unwanted contact.
Notably, Wilkinson went to her residence and glued her front door shut, then told her, “Good luck getting in.” The police investigation uncovered the extent of his harassment, including the numerous phone calls.
He eventually admitted guilt to stalking that caused the victim to fear violence.
His legal team argued that his background, marked by developmental challenges, learning difficulties, and autism, should be considered as mitigating factors.
Magistrates sentenced Wilkinson to a two-year community order, requiring 40 days of rehabilitative activities, a £95 victim surcharge, and £85 in court costs.
