AN UNEMPLOYED alcoholic has been given a restraining order against his former girlfriend after he punched her several times in the head, knocking her uncon-scious.
Wayne Sands, 20, assaulted his partner of six weeks Kerry Lafferty in the street after the couple had been drinking with friends in Union Street, Canterbury, on March 11.
The court heard how Sands, who has a history of domestic violence, suddenly became moody and stormed out at around 11pm.
Miss Lafferty followed him and asked him to return.
The thug, who had drunk nine pints of larger, then lashed out, swearing at her and punching her in the face so hard her head hit a lamppost.
She fell to the ground where she was punched again.
Miss Lafferty was left in agony with bruising to her face and a blood shot eye.
After finding out about the as - sault, Sands was sacked from his job as a chef at the Falstaff Hotel in St Dunstan's Street.
