WAYNE CLARKSON FROM WYTHENSHAWE SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ABUSE IN MANCHESTER

A man identified as Wayne Clarkson, aged 53, from Wythenshawe, has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison after a series of violent and abusive acts against his former partner. The case, brought before Manchester Crown Court, highlights the severity of domestic violence and the importance of victims coming forward to seek justice.

According to police reports, Clarkson engaged in a disturbing pattern of abuse that escalated over several incidents. The first notable assault occurred in November of the previous year, following a night marked by heavy drinking. During this episode, Clarkson caused damage to the victim’s property by smashing a television and throwing various items around her home. He also attacked her clothing, cutting it with a pair of scissors, which added a layer of physical intimidation and humiliation to the abuse. The victim sustained injuries, including bruising and a bloodshot eye, as a result of Clarkson’s assault.

Just days after this incident, Clarkson’s violence intensified. He struck his partner about the head with an improvised mop handle, which resulted in a head injury. This act of violence was particularly alarming, demonstrating a clear pattern of escalating aggression. The situation did not improve after Christmas; on December 29, Clarkson returned to his abusive behavior by smashing more items within the flat and stealing the victim’s phone, further isolating her and attempting to control her communication.

Throughout these episodes, police noted that Clarkson’s actions were part of a series of abusive acts, including intentional strangulation, assault, and witness intimidation. The bravery of the victim and her family in coming forward and reporting these incidents was highly praised by the Greater Manchester Police’s Domestic Abuse Team. Officers emphasized that without their courage, it would have been impossible to secure the conviction and sentencing of Clarkson.

At the court hearing, Clarkson, who resides on Atlow Drive in Wythenshawe, was sentenced to two years and nine months behind bars. The judge’s decision was based on the evidence of repeated violence and abuse, which underscored the seriousness of his crimes. A spokesperson for GMP’s Domestic Abuse Team expressed gratitude to the victim and her family for their cooperation, reaffirming the force’s commitment to supporting victims and ensuring justice is served. They stated, “No one should have to endure any form of physical violence, and we are here to listen and provide the necessary support. Reporting these incidents is the right thing to do, and we commend those who come forward.”
