ROTHERHAM MAN GETS COMMUNITY ORDER AFTER ASSAULTING EX-PARTNER WITH COFFEE AND VIOLENCE
A "childish" ex who rammed his partner’s head into the ground and poured a cup of hot coffee on her has been sentenced by a crown court judge.
Violent Wayne Bowen, from Rotherham, had been in a relationship with his victim for around 18 months before they split up and he ended up living in a hotel.
When the 43-year-old was paid a visit by his ex on January 26, he turned violent and threw a hot cup of coffee down her side.
Sheffield Crown Court then heard he attempted to put out a lit cigarette on her neck.
A witness at the hotel he had been staying at said she heard Bowen’s former girlfriend screaming as he attacked her.
He punched her and hit her head against the ground at least twice.
She managed to escape and went to hospital where she was treated for a busted and swollen lip.
Bowen, of Manvers Way, Wath upon Dearne, admitted one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was given a two-year community order.
Judge David Dixon said that, due to the amount of time he had served in custody, any term of imprisonment would have no benefit.
Instead, he made sure Bowen would have to obey a community order with 35 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
A five-year restraining order prohibiting any contact with his ex was also imposed.
