YORK MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT ATTACK ON PARTNER IN DOMESTIC ABUSE CASE
A boyfriend identified as Wayne Alan Jackson, aged 24, has been sentenced to nine months in jail for a violent assault on his partner.
Prosecutor Matt Harding detailed that Jackson lost his temper when his partner returned home from work, threw hot soup at her, and struck her with a garden chair on May 8.
He then bit her on the arm and continued hitting her, resulting in bruises and other injuries.
A few days later, after waking her by pulling her hair, Jackson called her derogatory names, banged her face into a cupboard, and demanded money.
He then followed her into the street, punched her to the ground, and hit her across the face with a backhand.
The victim suffered minor injuries.
Jackson has two prior convictions for assaulting women.
The judge, Stephen Ashurst, stated, “You cannot escape the consequences of this extremely unpleasant and sustained violence against your partner,” and issued a restraining order banning Jackson from contacting the victim, as well as sentencing him to nine months for causing actual bodily harm and assault.
Jackson expressed remorse, and his solicitor indicated the relationship was over and he was ashamed of his actions.
The court acknowledged the impact of domestic violence even when injuries are not severe.
