WASEEM KHALIQ ROTHERHAM PAEDOPHILE TROLLS VICTIMS AND THREATENS NCA OFFICERS FROM PRISON

In September 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving Waseem Khaliq, a man from Rotherham who was convicted of heinous crimes against young girls.

Khaliq, aged 35 at the time, had previously been sentenced to ten years in prison for child abduction and indecent assault, as part of the extensive Operation Stovewood investigation into sexual abuse and exploitation in Rotherham.

However, his criminal activities did not cease behind bars.

While serving his sentence, Khaliq engaged in a campaign of online harassment and intimidation directed at his victims.

He created a fake Facebook profile under the alias Andros Simpson, which he used to target one of his victims.

Posing as an investigative journalist, Khaliq falsely claimed to be researching the sexual abuse cases in Rotherham.

He accused the victim of lying and suggested she was only giving evidence because she had been offered money and a new house, attempting to discredit her and undermine her testimony.

Khaliq’s malicious online activities extended beyond mere posts.

He contacted several of the victim’s associates through the fake account, aiming to intimidate her further and prevent her from cooperating with authorities.

Despite efforts by the National Crime Agency (NCA) to shut down the fraudulent account, which they successfully did, Khaliq continued to post comments on other accounts, demonstrating a persistent intent to harass and threaten.

His intimidation tactics escalated when he was remanded into custody in March of that year.

From prison, Khaliq made threatening phone calls to NCA officers involved in his case.

During these calls, he claimed to know the officers’ addresses and warned them that he was close to discovering their whereabouts.

In a particularly alarming message, he expressed a wish for their deaths, stating he hoped they would die of cancer or AIDS.

Further compounding his misconduct, Khaliq admitted to the court that he had engaged in trolling his victims online, pretending to be someone else and issuing threats from prison.

As a result of his admissions and continued threatening behavior, his sentence was extended by an additional 45 months, bringing his total imprisonment period to over 15 years.

Khaliq’s case highlights the ongoing dangers posed by individuals who, even while incarcerated, seek to intimidate and threaten victims and law enforcement officials.

His actions have caused significant distress to those involved and underscore the importance of vigilance and robust legal measures to combat such malicious conduct.
