WARREN MORTON EPSOM PREDATOR TARGETING WOMEN AND GIRL UNDER 16 JAILED FOR A DECADE
In a serious case of predatory behavior, Warren Morton, a 23-year-old man from East Street, Epsom, has been sentenced to ten years in prison after admitting to multiple sexual assaults, common assaults, and breaching a Sexual Risk Order.The court proceedings took place at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday, May 14, and highlighted the disturbing pattern of Morton’s offenses against vulnerable women and a young girl in the Epsom area.
Morton’s criminal activities spanned over a period of months, with the most recent assault occurring on June 30, 2021.
At that time, Morton was already on bail for previous assaults committed in 2020.
The victim, a woman in her twenties, reported that she was attacked in a wooded area on Epsom Common, near the Wells Estate.
According to her account, she was walking along a secluded pathway when Morton suddenly attacked her from behind.
The assault caused her to fall backwards onto the ground, but she managed to fight back and free herself from his grasp.
Her quick response and bravery allowed her to escape, and she immediately contacted the police.
She also flagged down a nearby dog walker for assistance.
Morton, realizing he was caught, ran away from the scene, heading back towards the town centre of Epsom.
In addition to this recent incident, Morton pleaded guilty to an earlier assault that took place on September 16, 2020.
On that occasion, he approached a woman walking along a street and grabbed her buttock from behind.
The woman confronted him, which caused Morton to flee the scene.
Later that same day, Morton approached a girl under the age of 16.
When she challenged his inappropriate behavior, he quickly fled the area, avoiding further confrontation.
Morton’s pattern of predatory behavior was further evidenced by a third attack on July 28, 2020.
During this incident, he followed a woman into an alleyway, where he grabbed her from behind, causing her to fall onto her back.
He then kissed her before making his escape.
These repeated offenses demonstrate a disturbing pattern of targeting vulnerable women and minors in the Epsom area, prompting the court to impose a significant custodial sentence and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to prevent further incidents.
