TRANS STALKER TELLS JUDGE 'I'M A FEMALE' IN DEMAND FOR SWITCH TO WOMEN'S PRISON
A trans woman convicted of stalking the top surgeon who carried out her gender reassignment operation has pleaded with a judge for a switch to a women’s prison.Vivienne Taylor, 28, is currently in custody awaiting sentence for the pursuit of Tina Rashid, in actions which stretched across four years.
At a hearing at Isleworth crown court on Monday, Taylor joined on a videolink from HMP Wandsworth, a male category B jail in south London.
“I have a female recognition certificate”, Taylor told Judge Hannah Duncan.
“I am a female.
I should be treated as such, I should go to Bronzefield or another female establishment.” However, the judge replied: “While in the prison estate, where you are hosted is not something that has anything to do with me.
Taylor was due to be sentenced on Monday for stalking causing serious alarm or distress, having pleaded guilty a month ago.
The stalking involved turning up at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital pretending she had a booked appointment, sending unwanted emails to Ms Rashid, and trying to connect with her on LinkedIn.
The stalking culminated in a threatening message saying she would batter her.
Ms Rashid is a senior consultant urological surgeon specializing in genital surgery for trans women, and she is the National Clinical Lead for Gender Surgery.
Prosecutor Jonathan Bryan revealed that Taylor’s obsession was first revealed in 2021 during her gender reassignment procedures.
The court heard that Taylor organized a cake to thank the surgeon and had numerous photographs of her on her phone.
She was discharged from the hospital but later readmitted with 'complications', which were suggested to be self-inflicted, and threatened to kill herself if she was not treated by the same surgeon.
The hospital banned Taylor from seeing Ms Rashid, and she was later detained under mental health legislation, avoiding criminal proceedings in 2021.
The court noted she later moved back to London from The Wirral, and resumed contact with Ms Rashid via emails, hospital visits, and social media.
In November, she sent a threatening message saying she would batter Ms Rashid and shag her partner.
Taylor, who has no previous convictions, remains remanded in custody ahead of her sentencing in February, with psychiatric assessments pending.
