WILLESDEN MAN JAILED FOR TERRORIST MATERIAL AND CHILD PORN ON HIS PHONE
A Willesden man who was found with a bomb-making guide on his phone has been sentenced to jail.The individual, Vitor Dias, 21, had his residence raided on May 17, 2022, during an investigation into indecent images of children posted online.
Initially, he was not arrested, but two mobile phones were seized to be analyzed.
Police discovered extreme right-wing terrorist materials on the devices, including instructions on how to make explosives, firearms, and ammunition.
Dias was arrested on September 8 of that year and faced charges on October 3, 2023, for four counts of possessing a document containing information useful for terrorist purposes.
He pleaded guilty to these charges at the Old Bailey on August 5, 2024.
During the investigation, authorities also discovered child pornography; he was charged with two counts of possessing an extreme pornographic image, two counts of creating an indecent image of a child, and producing a related photograph.
On December 17, 2024, at Willesden Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded guilty to some of these charges.
On April 24, 2025, at the Old Bailey, Dias was sentenced to a total of three years in prison and was placed under a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Furthermore, he was registered as a sex offender for five years and given a sexual harm prevention order for the same duration.
Commander Dominic Murphy from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command commented that this case exemplifies the police's commitment to arresting and prosecuting individuals accessing terrorist materials.
The successful investigation was made possible through the efforts of the Wembley Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation unit, aided by risk management software on the devices.
This case highlights the police’s dedication to safeguarding vulnerable victims and counter-terrorism efforts.
