ISLE OF WIGHT SEX OFFENDER CAUGHT WITH OVER 200 INDECENT CHILD IMAGES
A sex offender previously convicted for attempting to meet a girl under the age of 16 has been back in court — this time for possessing more than 200 indecent images of children on the Isle of Wight.Seven of the images were described as 'extreme'.
Vincent Vella, formerly of Church Road, Wootton and now of Greenwood Avenue, Salford, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, March 31.
The 33-year-old admitted three counts of possessing indecent images of a child, both still and moving.
Court heard how he had 102 Category A (the worst kind), 88 Category B and 28 Category C images.
He was caught in possession of them on April 8, 2024 in Ryde, just five months after his previous conviction.
Vella was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for five years in 2023 after he attempted to meet a girl under the age of 16 following grooming.
For that offence, he was given a two-year community order.
Vella saw his latest case sent to the Isle of Wight Crown Court for sentencing on June 26.
He has been granted unconditional bail until that date.
