VINCENT O’HALLORAN FROM LIDEN CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN SWINDON
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Liden and the surrounding areas, Vincent O’Halloran, a 43-year-old man, has been accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.The incident reportedly took place on August 15, when O’Halloran allegedly lured the young girl into his flat located in Liden.
According to reports, as the girl was passing by his residence, O’Halloran called out to her, attempting to attract her attention.
Once she entered the building, he is said to have made inappropriate comments towards her before committing the sexual assault.
O’Halloran has admitted to the offence, but his plea was not straightforward.
He entered a plea of guilty, offering his own account of the events, which prosecutors have indicated they may not accept as entirely truthful.
The case was brought before Judge Euan Ambrose at Swindon Crown Court, where the court was advised to consider whether a trial of issue should be held.
This type of trial would involve a judge determining the facts of the case, rather than a jury.
During the hearing, it was confirmed that O’Halloran, who resides at Sheringham Court, pleaded guilty to a single charge of sexual assault on a child under the age of 13.
As part of the legal process, he is now required to register as a sex offender.
The duration of his registration will depend on the sentence handed down by the court.
Phillip Warren, representing the Crown, commented on the plea, stating, “That has been tendered on a basis that contains four clauses.
I would ask for 14 days to consider that basis, please.” He also highlighted that CCTV footage exists showing the girl, who was a stranger to O’Halloran, entering the block of flats.
The footage, along with the victim’s views, will be taken into account during the upcoming proceedings.
The case was adjourned until November 2, and O’Halloran was remanded in custody until that date, pending further legal action.
The community remains concerned about the safety of children in the area, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this troubling incident.
