A BOOZED-up abuser sprayed his partner with freezing water after locking her out of the family home.Swindon magistrates heard that Graham Hackett hit his partner with a hairbrush, leaving her bruised. And the next day, April 21, the 29-year-old continued his assault on the woman.
He woke up in a bad mood after bingeing on cider, screaming obscenities at his partner and asking for his dinner. He locked the woman and another female relative out in the garden and began pelting them with gravel and eggs, before using a hosepipe to spray freezing cold water at them.Hackett, of White Edge Moor, Liden, admitted three counts of assault by beating.
Defending, Mark Glendenning said his client disagreed with parts of the account put forward by prosecutors, but “accepts he is responsible, accepts he is guilty and takes punishment today”.Sentencing Hackett to four months imprisonment suspended for two years, chairman of the bench Rachel Gowshall said: “We’ve listened to whether there’s anything that makes this less serious.
There’s not.” He must complete 200 hours’ unpaid work, 30 rehabilitation days and pay £200 in costs and victim surcharge.
A six-month prohibition order bans him from going back to the family home.
