TWO NORTH EAST FRIENDS RAPED CRYING WOMAN AT SAME TIME IN 'DEHUMANISING' ATTACK
Two men responsible for raping a young woman during a simultaneous and dehumanising assault have each received a prison sentence totaling 22 years.Taylor Dove and Vieri Chapman committed the assault after the woman declined an invitation for a threesome, which the court described as a vile act.
During the attack, Dove went so far as to boast about his actions, and it was revealed that he was out on bail for raping another teenage girl at the time.
Both men denied the charges of rape but were found guilty by a jury.
Dove, 22 years old from Balmoral Terrace in Sunderland, who was also convicted of raping the other teenager, was sentenced to 12 years.
Chapman, known as Jevonni Copley and aged 25 from Wansbeck Road in Gosforth, Newcastle, received a ten-year term.
Additionally, both offenders are required to register as sex offenders for life and have been issued restraining orders.
In court, Judge Julie Clemitson remarked that the victim had been violated in the most appalling manner by both men simultaneously.
She noted her shock and inability to defend herself during the attack, emphasizing that Dove’s apparent indifference, including his bragging about the assault, compounded the trauma.
The judge highlighted that alcohol, entitlement, and disregard for the woman’s consent had played a role in the incident.
The victim, in a statement read aloud, described her experience as dehumanising and explained how it had affected her personal life and relationships.
She expressed difficulty in discussing her ordeal, as it made the trauma feel even more real, and called for the accused to understand the damage they had caused.
Dove was also convicted of raping another victim while she was unconscious; she stated in her victim impact statement that Dove’s actions had wrecked her life, causing her anxiety, depression, and flashbacks.
She said she now feels like a shell of her former self.
The defense for Dove argued he was in denial and that he was highly regarded by those around him, suggesting he would be burdened by this conviction for life.
For Chapman, counsel pointed out his autism diagnosis and mentioned that he previously had a modeling contract and worked as a DJ, careers he would never return to due to his conviction.
