VICTOR WALKOM FROM RAMSGATE SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN KENT

In August 2023, a man from Ramsgate, Victor Walkom, was sentenced to a decade behind bars after being convicted of serious sexual offences involving minors. Walkom, who previously resided on Dumpton Park Road in Ramsgate, faced multiple charges related to his misconduct against young girls. The allegations included five counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and one count of causing a child to observe a sexual act. These criminal acts reportedly occurred during the years 2016 and 2017, with the victims being under the age of 15 at the time.

Following the incidents, the victims came forward and reported the abuse to Kent Police, which led to a thorough investigation conducted by detectives from the Vulnerability Investigation Team. Throughout the legal proceedings, Walkom maintained his innocence, denying all charges brought against him. However, after a trial at Canterbury Crown Court, a jury found him guilty of all six counts.

On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, the court sentenced the 84-year-old to a 10-year prison term. In addition to his imprisonment, Walkom was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to restrict his contact with minors and prevent any further harm. The case highlights the importance of vigilant reporting and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect vulnerable individuals from sexual exploitation and abuse.
