DUNDEE SEX OFFENDER VICTOR BAWOL GETS LIFE SENTENCE FOR DECADES OF CHILD ABUSE

A man named Victor Bawol, aged 76, has been convicted of sexually abusing three children across locations in Dundee, Angus, and the Highlands.

The offenses spanned from September 1970 to April 2005.

Bawol admitted targeting the victims who were as young as five years old in various settings, including a campsite in Inverness-shire.

The court was informed that some of the assaults during this extended period occurred at different locations, with the first victim abused between September 1970 and September 1979, the second in Angus and Dundee from February 1992 until February 1999, and the third victim, a son of the first, abused from 1996 onward for another nine years.

The abuse was described as sustained, with Bawol starting the offenses in his early life and continuing over decades, demonstrating a pattern of repeated sexual violence.

The case gained prominence after one of the victims overdosed on painkillers and disclosed the abuse, which led to Bawol’s arrest.

The prosecution highlighted his denial, with Bawol claiming the witnesses were fabricating the story, but he ultimately pleaded guilty to a course of sexual abuse.

His sentencing included a four-year prison sentence, and Lord Ericht ordered him to be placed on the sex offenders register for life.

The judge emphasized the severity of his crimes, stating: “You have pled guilty to a sustained course of sexual abuse.

Be under no illusion what you did was very wrong,” and reaffirmed the ongoing danger posed by his actions.
