DUNDEE TEEN WITH CHILD ABUSE FILES ADMITS TO POLICE
A 19-year-old from Dundee, Kieran McCluskey, who was a first-time offender, was found in possession of child abuse images after he boasted online to an undercover police officer about abusing his fictional daughters. The teenager, who admitted to two charges, had engaged in a chat with a man named Pete through the messaging platform Kik on March 24 and 25 of the previous year.
At the time, McCluskey was 18 and told Pete he had a two daughters aged 13 and four, claiming he often sexually abused them.
Unbeknownst to him, Pete was an undercover officer.
A search warrant was issued, leading officers to raid McCluskey’s family home on June 11 at 8:25am.
They recovered an iPhone, which was linked to his email and the Kik account.
Examination of the device revealed 24 files related to child sexual exploitation and abuse, ten of which were highly graphic.
McCluskey confessed to sending messages that were offensive, indecent, obscene, or menacing, and to creating or sharing indecent images of children during May and June 2025.
He expressed remorse, acknowledging that such crimes are not victimless.
Presiding Sheriff Alastair Carmichael imposed a period of supervision, placed McCluskey on the sex offenders register for a year, and mandated his participation in the Tay Project for rehabilitation.
The sheriff emphasized that, despite the smaller number of images, the gravity of the offense remains significant.
