SALFORD MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL MURDER OF EX-PARTNER IN HER HOME
A 48-year-old man named Vernon Holmes has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his former partner, Alison Hunt.
The court heard that Holmes carried out a stabbing attack in her Swinton home, focusing on her back, neck, and chest in a violent assault.
This incident occurred on January 16, leaving Ms.
Hunt in a pool of blood in her hallway.
Holmes fled the scene in a red Mini Cooper, a vehicle that was subsequently traced back to his address.
He was detained early the following day after police identified and tracked his car.
Holmes denied any involvement during police questioning, responding with 'no comment.' He was found guilty by a jury, resulting in a court sentence of at least 25 years in prison at Manchester Crown Court.
Detective Duncan Thorpe, the senior investigating officer, described the case as 'heartbreaking,' and remarked that Holmes’ cowardice added further pain to Ms.
Hunt’s loved ones.
The court emphasized that Holmes’ choice to deny guilt, despite his conviction, demonstrates the seriousness of his crime.
Alison Hunt, a woman known to be a dedicated mother, was tragically lost, highlighting the cruelty associated with domestic homicide cases.
