UMER AYUB FROM ANFIELD CAUGHT TRYING TO MEET CHILD IN LIVERPOOL AFTER OVERSTAYING VISA

In June 2019, Umer Ayub, a 38-year-old man residing on Valley Road in Anfield, found himself at the center of a serious criminal investigation involving online grooming and attempted child exploitation.

Ayub, who had overstayed his visa in the United Kingdom, engaged in a disturbing online interaction with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl.

In reality, he was communicating with paedophile hunters operating under the guise of a young girl on social media.

According to the prosecution, Christopher Taylor, during the proceedings at Liverpool Crown Court, detailed how Ayub expressed feelings of loneliness following the departure of his Romanian girlfriend, who had returned to Romania after his visa expired.

Ayub admitted that in his state of emotional distress, he responded to messages posted on the Skout social media platform.

Unbeknownst to him, these messages were part of an operation conducted by a paedophile hunter group called Predator Closure.

Between 6.20 pm and 9.40 pm on May 8 of that year, Ayub engaged in a series of conversations with the decoy, who repeatedly confirmed her age as 14.

Despite this, the conversation gradually shifted towards the possibility of meeting up for sexual activity.

Ayub explicitly asked, “do you want sex?” and when the girl hesitated, he attempted to reassure her by saying, “It’s normal, when a boy and girl meet they do sex.” He further told her she was “special” and made inappropriate comments about her future sexual experiences, stating, “In your life you will do sex with lots of guys.” As the conversation progressed, Ayub expressed his intention to meet the girl in person.

He traveled to Fountains Road in Kirkdale, Liverpool, with the apparent plan to meet the girl for sexual activity.

However, law enforcement officers, alerted by the paedophile hunter group, were waiting for him.

Police arrested Ayub at around 10.30 pm that evening.

During police interviews, Ayub claimed he believed the girl was actually 18 years old and was pretending to be 14.

He explained that he had been living in England since 2011, initially arriving on a student visa.

He admitted to being an overstayer and working as a pizza delivery driver in Liverpool.

Ayub also stated that his girlfriend had left the UK a week prior, which had left him feeling depressed and lonely.

As a result, he said he turned to social media, specifically Skout, to “meet a friend.” He further claimed that he thought the girl in the pictures looked 18, not 14.

Despite his claims, Ayub ultimately pleaded guilty to attempting to meet a girl under 16 for sexual purposes, having engaged in grooming behavior.

Judge Stuart Driver, QC, addressed the court, noting that no actual child was harmed in this case, but emphasized that Ayub believed he was about to meet a minor.

The judge remarked on the disturbing nature of the case, highlighting Ayub’s explicit suggestions of sexual activity and his admission of liking young girls.

He sentenced Ayub to 12 months in prison, emphasizing the seriousness of his actions.

Additionally, Judge Driver ordered Ayub to register as a sex offender and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in effect for ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to prevent future offenses.
