2009: REVERSING ROW WOMAN JAILED
A woman driver knocked over her partner while reversing her car causing the victim serious spinal injuries, a court heard on Friday.Trisha Gooding, 32, knocked down Rachael Fanneran as she reversed out of the drive following an argument between the pair.
Ms Fanneran was trying to get her bag from the boot of the car when she was hit.
Gooding claimed she had not intended to cause any injuries but accepted she had acted recklessly.
Lori Tucker, prosecuting, said that neighbours heard what had happened and came to Ms Fanneran's aid and an ambulance was called.
But when Gooding tried to see Ms Fanneran at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital she kicked one of the security staff when she was asked to leave.
The court heard Ms Fanneran suffered serious injuries to her spine.
Gooding, of Julians Way, Pulham Market, admitted unlawfully wounding Ms Fanneran.
She also asked for three other offences to be taken into consideration, including the assault on the hospital security worker.
Jailing her for 11 months, Judge Paul Downes told her she had acted extremely recklessly.
Michael Clare, mitigating, said: "This was something akin to a domestic argument.
Matters got heated." He said Gooding had no intention of causing any injuries to Ms Fanneran.
"She is deeply concerned she caused injury through her foolishness," he said.
He added that Gooding felt humiliated and upset and recognised she had temper problems and mood swings and had consulted her doctor.
