TREVOR MORRIS FROM CHORLEY SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN PRESTON
In a significant case that has shocked the local community, Trevor Morris, a 25-year-old resident of Chorley, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of multiple heinous crimes involving young children. The offences, which spanned over several incidents, included serious sexual assaults and indecent acts committed against four young victims, comprising three girls and one boy. Many of these crimes took place while Morris was entrusted with the care of the children, notably during babysitting sessions at various addresses in Leyland and Clayton Brook. The gravity of his actions was thoroughly examined during the trial, which resulted in Morris facing a total of twenty charges. These charges included seven counts of rape and ten counts of indecent assault, reflecting a pattern of predatory behavior that the court described as both persistent and serial.
At Preston Crown Court, Judge Pamela Bradley delivered the verdict and sentencing. She emphasized the severity of the case, stating that the jury had found Morris to be a serial and persistent sexual abuser. The judge expressed concern over the high risk Morris poses to children, which led to her recommending an extended sentence beyond the standard term. Ultimately, Morris was sentenced to 12 years in prison, a punishment that underscores the seriousness with which the justice system views such offenses.
Furthermore, Judge Bradley ordered that Morris, who was formerly residing at Buckshaw Hall Close in Astley Village, be permanently disqualified from working with children. She also mandated that he be placed on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from potential future harm. The case has left a lasting impact on the victims and their families, as well as raising awareness about the importance of safeguarding children from sexual abuse in the Chorley area and beyond.
