TREVOR LUSTY: MILTON KEYNES PAEDOPHILE INSPECTOR SENTENCED FOR ABUSE

In November 2013, a disturbing case emerged involving Trevor Lusty, a former schools inspector from Giffard Park, Milton Keynes, who was convicted of heinous sexual offenses against a young girl. Lusty, who was 66 years old at the time of sentencing, had concealed a dark secret behind his respected professional facade, which included a career as an OFSTED inspector known for maintaining high standards in education.

His criminal activities spanned over a period of more than a decade, beginning in 1986, when he first began grooming a girl who was just four years old. The girl’s mother had established a relationship with Lusty, which allowed him to gain access to her and manipulate her from a very young age. During the day, Lusty was engaged in his official duties, inspecting schools and ensuring that teaching standards were upheld. However, in his personal time, he engaged in a series of sordid acts that would eventually come to light during his trial.

The court heard that Lusty had systematically abused the girl, starting with grooming and psychological manipulation. He even appointed himself as her swimming coach, claiming that massage sessions would help her relax and improve her swimming times. These sessions, which initially involved non-sexual massages, gradually became more invasive and sexual in nature. The girl, who later graduated from university and cannot be named for legal reasons, had confided in a family friend about the abuse when she was just eight years old. Unfortunately, her allegations were dismissed and not believed, a fact that added to her suffering.

Judge Seddon Cripps, presiding at Aylesbury Crown Court, delivered a stern sentence after hearing the details of the case. The judge described how Lusty’s grooming had led to a full sexual relationship once the girl reached the age of 16, after years of psychological manipulation and abuse. The court was told that Lusty’s actions had caused the girl to develop a distorted view of her own sexuality, with the abuse becoming more sexualized as she grew older. The grooming process was so thorough that the girl had even begun to enjoy the sexual sessions, which ultimately led to a long-term relationship between the two.

Throughout the trial, Lusty denied all six counts of indecent assault brought against him. Despite his claims of innocence, the jury found him guilty in May. His defense barrister, Simon Clarke, described Lusty as an “astonishingly successful teacher and later OFSTED inspector,” emphasizing that there had been no prior suspicion or evidence of misconduct during his career. Nevertheless, the court’s verdict was clear, and Lusty was sentenced to a total of seven years in prison. He received three years for three of the counts and four years for two others, all to run concurrently. An additional three-year sentence was imposed for the final count of sexual assault, to be served consecutively, bringing his total imprisonment to seven years.

In addition to his prison sentence, Lusty was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was disqualified from working with children in the future. The judge condemned his actions, stating, “You made your victim relive the events at a trial. You tried to lie your way out but you were convicted.” The case highlighted the devastating impact of grooming and abuse, even by individuals who are trusted and hold respected positions within the community of Milton Keynes.
