TREVOR COLE CAUGHT IN PETERBOROUGH AND SPALDING USING CUDDLY TOYS TO LURE CHILDREN

In a disturbing display that has sent shockwaves through the local communities, Trevor Cole, a convicted sex offender with a troubling history, was observed setting up a stall in Spalding, Lincolnshire, near a nursery school. The scene was particularly alarming as Cole, 52, arranged an array of cuddly toys, including rag dolls and teddy bears, at the front of his stall, seemingly designed to attract young children and their parents.

Trevor Cole’s past is marred by serious criminal offenses. He was sentenced to five years in prison in 1997 after being convicted of ten counts of indecent assault involving two young girls. Despite his incarceration, Cole remains on the sex offenders register, yet he continues to operate in public spaces, raising concerns about the effectiveness of his supervision and the safety of children in the vicinity.

On the day of observation, Cole was seen carefully setting up his stall on a site adjacent to a nursery school, a location that naturally draws families with young children. Witnesses reported that he appeared to be deliberately using the toys as bait, with the intent of luring children into his vicinity. At one point, a mother approached the stall, and Cole, who was noticeably balding, stepped forward to interact. He handed a toy to a toddler in a pram, all the while smiling and engaging with an older boy, approximately eight years old, who was present with his mother.

In a further unsettling act, Cole gave the older boy a gift without accepting any money, and then proceeded to chat with him for about 15 minutes. This behavior, observed by bystanders, raised serious concerns about Cole’s intentions and his apparent comfort in engaging with children in such a manner.

Trevor Cole, who was released from prison in 2000 after serving part of his five-year sentence, has a history of flouting the conditions of his parole, which explicitly prohibit him from being near children. His previous offenses include involvement with a children’s majorette troupe, which he used to run in Peterborough. In the summer of 2000, Cole was involved in training some of the majorettes, a role that further complicated his release conditions.

His breach of parole was uncovered when a vigilant member of the public, aware of Cole’s criminal background, warned parents at a children’s event in Haverhill, Suffolk. The warning led to police intervention and Cole’s subsequent arrest. It was later revealed that Cole had been spotted at a majorette competition in Haverhill, which was a clear violation of his parole terms. This incident underscored the ongoing risks posed by Cole’s presence in public spaces despite his criminal record.

Sources close to the case expressed outrage at the situation. One remarked, “He must know that cuddly toys are a way to tempt children. Yet parents have no idea he’s a child molester. His eyes light up when children come to the stall. It’s unbelievable he’s allowed to get away with it.” The community’s concern is compounded by the fact that Cole, formerly of Peterborough, continues to operate in Spalding, raising questions about the enforcement of restrictions placed on him and the safety of children in these areas.
