TREVA THROWER SENTENCED TO 32 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN BECKENHAM AND BROMLEY

In a case that has shocked the local community, Treva Thrower, a 45-year-old man from Beckenham, has been handed a severe prison sentence of 32 years after being convicted of multiple heinous crimes involving a young girl. The sentencing took place at Croydon Crown Court on Monday, 12 September, following a conviction that was secured earlier in the year.

Thrower was found guilty on Wednesday, 25 May, of nine separate charges that included the rape of a child under the age of 13, sexual assault of a minor under 13, and deliberately inciting or causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activities. The offences occurred over a span of several years, specifically between 2014 and 2018, at the victim’s residence in Bromley. The court heard that Thrower’s actions were not only physically abusive but also manipulative and threatening.

Prosecutors revealed that Thrower took explicit photographs of the young girl and used threats to silence her, warning that he would upload these images onto the internet if she disclosed the abuse to anyone. The victim, who was under 13 at the time, endured physical assaults whenever she resisted his advances, further compounding the trauma inflicted upon her.

The victim eventually confided in her school teachers in 2019, which prompted an investigation by officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime team. During the investigation, it was discovered that Thrower had gone into hiding, attempting to evade justice by deleting all data from his mobile phone. Despite his efforts to escape, he eventually surrendered to the authorities.

As part of his sentence, Thrower will be subject to lifelong registration as a sex offender and has been issued a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order. These measures are designed to monitor and restrict his activities to prevent any further harm. The case has left a lasting impact on the community in Beckenham and Bromley, highlighting the importance of vigilance and swift action in protecting vulnerable children from abuse.
