ROCHFORD PAEDOPHILE TOW LIEW BUSTED FOR 76,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AT BASILDON CROWN COURT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community of Rochford, Tow Liew, a 73-year-old man, has been found in possession of an alarming number of child abuse images, with authorities revealing that he created a staggering total of 76,229 indecent images over a span of more than two decades.The offences committed by Liew date back to May 9, 1997, and continued until July 5 of the previous year, highlighting a prolonged period of criminal activity.
During a court hearing at Basildon Crown Court, Liew admitted to creating and possessing these images, which include some of the most severe and disturbing categories.
Of the images found in his possession, 425 were classified as Category A, representing the most extreme and vile forms of child sexual abuse.
An additional 437 images fell into Category B, while a vast majority of 75,367 images were categorized as Category C, which, although less severe, still depict illegal and deeply troubling material.
Liew appeared in court dressed in a navy blue coat and a baseball cap, speaking only to confirm his name and address.
His appearance was subdued, and he did not contest the charges.
In addition to the child abuse images, Liew faced separate charges related to firearms.
He admitted to possessing ammunition but did not enter a plea regarding the firearm itself.
The court was informed that there was a dispute over whether the pistol in question was an antique, and a provisional trial date has been scheduled for August 10 next year to resolve this matter.
Judge Samantha Cohen addressed Liew directly, stating, “We have fixed your trial date for August next year.
You will be out on bail in the meantime.
You must ensure you are there on that date, as if you do not appear, it will be a criminal offense and you may be taken into custody.” Following the hearing, Liew was released on conditional bail under strict conditions.
He is prohibited from accessing the internet in any form and must not have unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16.
The case has raised serious concerns among residents of Rochford and the wider community, emphasizing the importance of ongoing vigilance and law enforcement efforts to protect vulnerable children from such heinous crimes.
