In a disturbing case of animal neglect, Tony and Tracey Ford, a couple previously residing in Margate and later in Carew Road, Thornton Heath, South London, were found guilty of abandoning three puppies suffering from severe mange and neglect. The incident, which drew widespread condemnation, highlights the ongoing issue of animal cruelty and the responsibilities of pet owners.Despite their relocation, the Fords' neglectful actions in Margate had devastating consequences for the dogs involved. The puppies, three in total—comprising one female and two males—were discovered in a dire state after being dumped on the street. All four dogs, including their mother, a two-year-old Staffy named Bonnie, were in a horrific condition, with almost no fur remaining and their bodies covered in scabby sores. The neglect was so severe that the dogs were virtually bald and suffering from extensive skin infections.
The puppies had been left exposed to the elements, suffering from heat exposure and sunburn, which required immediate intervention. A member of the public, along with Thanet Council dog warden John Coomes, found the puppies and took swift action. The puppies were transported to a veterinarian for urgent care, and the dog warden managed to locate their mother at the Fords' former address on Arnold Street, Margate.
