MUSIC TUTOR BANNED FROM TEACHING AFTER SPYING ON WOMAN IN SHOWER

A freelance music tutor has been barred from teaching indefinitely admitting that he secretly filmed a woman showering and going to the toilet.Former church trustee Timothy Pooley, 51, of Maldon Road, Witham, avoided a jail sentence earlier this year after he admitted voyeurism at Chelmsford Crown Court.The court heard that he set up his iPhone to film the woman in the bedroom and bathroom of his home on 13 separate occasions.Police checking his iPhone found footage of the woman getting dressed and undressed and using the shower and toilet.Last week a professional conduct panel was told his behaviour breached the high professional standards required of teachers.A report from the panel stated that character references indicated that Pooley was a decent and honest man, who showed remorse, and pupils and music colleagues had felt safe and at ease alongside him.See this week's Braintree and Witham Times for the full story.
