WITHAM AMATEUR BOXER JAILED FOR ATTACKING PARTNER WHILE SHE TRIED TO BREASTFEED THEIR BABY
A VIOLENT amateur boxer who repeatedly slapped and spat at his partner during a prolonged assault bragged he “wasn’t even trying” and could kill her if he wanted to.Luke Glanville, 34, was living with his girlfriend in Witham at the time and forced his way into their address before locking her outside while she had a cigarette.
When she climbed in through a window, Glanville then bent her phone in half and smashed an Alexa device, preventing her from calling the police before he slapped her while she tried to protect the couple’s young baby, Chelmsford Crown Court heard.
Charlotte Bull, prosecuting, said: “He dragged her around the living room by her hair and pushed her head into the floor.
He spat at the complainant 30 times while she was breastfeeding their baby.
He said he could kill her and knock her out – he said he was only slapping her with an open palm and wasn’t really trying.” Ms Bull added Glanville, who is an unlicensed boxer, smacked the victim so hard that she briefly lost her sight.
The two-hour assault only came to an end when the victim screamed from a window and a neighbour called the police.
Glanville admitted two charges of criminal damage and one charge of actual bodily harm.
He was jailed for 16 months and the court acknowledged Glanville’s ex-partner was not supportive of the prosecution but had to consider the high risk assessed by probation.
The judge noted the assault was 'horrific' and that Glanville is a father of four children.
His defense highlighted that he had been under the influence of drugs and alcohol and that his mental health had deteriorated in custody.
The court emphasized the danger he posed to his partner and children, noting that it was only through luck that no one was more seriously injured.
