STEP-SON GETS LIFE FOR POET'S BRUTAL MURDER IN USK
Timothy Jackson, the stepson of local poet Anne Jackson, received a life sentence after being convicted of her murder.Court documents showed that Anne Jackson was discovered with stab wounds at her residence in Little Wentwood Farm, close to Usk, on November 1.
The 79-year-old poet, whose works appeared in multiple literary publications, was attacked amid a family disagreement.
Prosecutor Roger Thomas QC explained that Jackson seized a kitchen knife during an altercation and used it to deliver fatal stabs to her chest and neck.
Testimony from the court indicated that Jackson had been shouting and yelling at Anne prior to the attack.
His father described him as a 'strange character' and a 'bully' with issues involving excessive drinking and unruly behavior.
The judge imposed a minimum imprisonment term of 19 years before Jackson could be considered for parole.
Det Chf Insp Roger Fortey expressed hope that the sentence would provide some solace to the family, even as they continue to grieve deeply.
