USK MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING GIRLFRIEND IN ‘APPALLING’ ATTACK
Gareth Davies, aged 27 from Usk, was jailed for two years at Cardiff Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to an assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The incident involved Davies repeatedly punching his girlfriend while driving them home after a trip to a truck show in Porthcawl.
Their car subsequently crashed, and the victim was taken to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend for treatment.
At the time of the assault, Davies was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
The judge, Recorder Celia Hughes, described the offence as 'an appalling offence in front of two young children which went on for some time.' She also mentioned, 'This was an appalling offence in front of two young children which went on for some time.
You were lucky it did not result in serious injury to your family and other members of the public.' Moreover, Davies was issued a five-year restraining order not to contact his victim.
He has previous convictions for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and for disclosing or threatening to disclose a private sexual photograph.
