DUNDEE WOMAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT HOME RAID OVER £40
In Dundee, a vulnerable pensioner was physically assaulted with a drill box and wooden furniture because he refused to give his attacker £40.The attacker, Tia McMillan, targeted the 67-year-old man in his home in the Charleston area, repeatedly attacking him before fleeing through a bathroom window with cash, two bank cards, and a mobile phone.
The elderly man, who relies on a four-wheel walker due to mobility difficulties, received treatment at a hospital for a suspected concussion.
McMillan, who has a history of offenses, was granted bail so she could cooperate with social workers ahead of her court date next month at Dundee Sheriff Court.
The man knew McMillan, 44, through a mutual acquaintance and often visited her residence to do laundry or borrow money.
On the day of the incident, at approximately 10:45 am, he entered her home but refused her request for £40 because he had not been to the bank.
An angry McMillan took his phone, which he was sitting with, and demanded the money, asserting, “You give other people money so give me it now.” According to the prosecutor Emma Farmer, “The accused forcibly pushed him back.
The victim managed to stand and told her, ‘That’s enough, you need to go’.” McMillan then picked up a green drill box and struck him multiple times on the head and body.
She continued her assault by also lifting wooden tables and damaging them.
The victim attempted to defend himself with his arms, but McMillan persisted with her attack, hitting him with picture frames and insisting he give her the money.
She eventually pinned him to a bed, took cash from his wallet, and exited via the bathroom window.
An observer later found the man outside, distressed, with cuts and scratches on his face.
McMillan, residing in Dundee, pleaded guilty to both assault and theft on January 22, 2024.
The court has postponed her sentencing to next month at Dundee Sheriff Court.
