THOMAS THROSSELL'S BRUTAL ASSAULT IN CARDIFF LEADS TO THREE-YEAR DETENTION AND RESTRAINING ORDER

Thomas Throssell, a 25-year-old man from Cardiff, was involved in a violent and disturbing assault that has left a lasting impact on his victims and the local community. The incident, which took place within the confines of his home in Cardiff, was characterized by extreme aggression and brutality. According to court records, Throssell subjected his partner to a relentless series of punches and kicks, resulting in visible injuries, including a bruise on her shin. Witnesses and the victim herself described how Throssell shouted abusive language during the attack, creating a tense and frightening environment.

The violence escalated further when Throssell attempted to prevent his partner’s teenage daughter from intervening. In a terrifying display of hostility, he grabbed the girl by the throat and pushed her onto the bed. The young girl was held in a chokehold for approximately one minute, during which she feared for her life as Throssell squeezed her throat with enough force to cause her significant distress and fear of imminent death. The situation deteriorated further when Throssell, in a fit of rage, punched a bathroom mirror, shattering it into pieces and causing additional damage to the property.

Despite being asked to leave the premises, Throssell refused to comply, which only intensified the confrontation. He continued his assault by punching his partner in the face, further injuring her and adding to the trauma she endured. The police were eventually called to the scene after Throssell was forcibly removed from the home by witnesses and authorities. Upon arrest, Throssell was taken into custody and brought in for questioning.

During the interrogation, Throssell dismissed the allegations, claiming that his partner was manipulative and that her injuries were fabricated. However, evidence presented in court, including victim statements and physical evidence, painted a starkly different picture. The court also learned that Throssell has a troubling criminal history, with four previous convictions for offences such as battery, assault, criminal damage, and harassment, indicating a pattern of violent behavior.

The victim’s statements revealed the profound psychological toll the assault had taken on her. She described feelings of intense fear, a loss of her personality, persistent soreness, headaches, and social withdrawal, highlighting the severe impact of the abuse on her mental health and well-being. The case was brought before Newport Crown Court, where Throssell faced justice for his actions.

In sentencing, the judge condemned Throssell’s conduct as “appalling” and emphasized the importance of protecting victims of domestic violence. Throssell was sentenced to three years in a young offenders institute and was issued a six-year restraining order to prevent any contact with his victims. The judge made it clear that any relationship between Throssell and his victims was effectively over, underscoring the court’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals from further harm.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the severity of domestic violence, including assault, strangulation, and criminal damage. The conviction was based on substantial trial evidence, and the court’s decision aims to hold Throssell accountable for his violent actions while ensuring the safety and well-being of his victims. The community in Cardiff is urged to remain vigilant and report any signs of domestic abuse to prevent similar incidents in the future.
